Ferric sulfate granular is commonly used in sludge dewatering processes due to its ability to enhance the separation of water from solids in sludge. Here’s how it works and its advantages:
Coagulation: Similar to its use in water treatment, ferric sulfate granules dissociate in water to release ferric ions (Fe³⁺). These ions neutralize the negative charges on sludge particles, promoting coagulation and the formation of larger flocs.
Conditioning: By forming larger, denser flocs, ferric sulfate improves the structure and consistency of the sludge. This makes it easier to handle and process in dewatering equipment.
Reduction of Bound Water: Ferric sulfate helps release the water that is chemically or physically bound to the sludge particles, making the dewatering process more efficient.
